# Reviews MCP server

Prisma has a remote [MCP](https://modelcontextprotocol.io) server, so AI assistants such as Claude, Cursor and VS Code can use the Prisma Reviews API directly. Ask in plain language ("which 1- and 2-star reviews did we get this week?", "reply to Laura's review thanking her") and the assistant calls Prisma for you, with your own API key.

- **URL:** `https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP)
- **Auth:** sign in with your Prisma account (OAuth, for ChatGPT, claude.ai and other connector screens), or send your API key as `Authorization: Bearer <key>` (or `X-API-Key: <key>` where a gateway reserves `Authorization`). A test key (`pk_test_…`), or choosing **Test** when you sign in, returns sample data from every platform, so you can try it without connecting anything.
- **Cost:** none on top of your plan. Each tool call is one API request and counts like any other.

Prisma doesn't write replies. The assistant you use drafts them, and Prisma publishes exactly the text it receives, through each platform's official API. Check a reply before you let the assistant publish it.

## Tools

| Tool | What it does | API route |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `list_locations` | Connected locations (a business, app, shop or listing on one platform) | `GET /v1/locations` |
| `list_reviews` | Reviews, newest first; filter by location, platform, date or reply status | `GET /v1/reviews` |
| `get_review` | One review with its reply | `GET /v1/reviews/{id}` |
| `reply_to_review` | Publishes a reply on the platform | `POST /v1/reviews/{id}/reply` |
| `get_stats` | Average rating, counts, distribution and reply rate | `GET /v1/stats` |
| `list_connections` | Connected platform accounts and their status | `GET /v1/connections` |
| `list_platforms` | Every platform, whether it supports replies and how to connect it | `GET /v1/platforms` |
| `create_connect_link` | A link the business owner opens to connect a platform | `POST /v1/connect_links` |
| `get_usage` | Plan, locations, requests and paid reads this month | `GET /v1/usage` |

Results are the same JSON as the [API reference](/docs/api-reference). Errors come back as tool errors with the API's [error codes](/docs/errors). Read-only platforms (Yelp, Tripadvisor, Booking.com…) return `reply_not_supported` with the link to answer on the platform.

## Set up

### ChatGPT, claude.ai and other apps with "Add connector"

No key needed: add a custom connector with the URL `https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp`. The app sends you to Prisma to sign in, you choose **Live** (your real accounts) or **Test** (sample data) and click **Allow**. The connection appears in your [API keys](https://app.prismareviews.com/api-keys) as "<app name> (MCP)"; revoke it there to disconnect.

- **claude.ai:** Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- **ChatGPT:** Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced → Developer mode, then Create (custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan).

### With an API key

Clients that take a header use your key instead. Get one in the [dashboard](https://app.prismareviews.com/api-keys). Start with the test key, then switch to the live one.

### Claude Code

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http prisma-reviews https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer pk_test_YOUR_KEY"
```

### Cursor

In `~/.cursor/mcp.json` (or `.cursor/mcp.json` in a project):

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "prisma-reviews": {
      "url": "https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer pk_test_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
```

### VS Code

In `.vscode/mcp.json`:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "prisma-reviews": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer pk_test_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop connects to remote servers with a header through [`mcp-remote`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/mcp-remote) (needs Node.js). In Settings → Developer → Edit config:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "prisma-reviews": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp", "--header", "Authorization:${PRISMA_AUTH}"],
      "env": { "PRISMA_AUTH": "Bearer pk_test_YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
```

Restart Claude Desktop and Prisma's tools appear in the tools menu.

### Any other client

Send JSON-RPC 2.0 with `POST` to the URL, with the `Authorization` header. The server is stateless and answers with `application/json` (no SSE stream, no session id), and supports protocol versions `2025-06-18`, `2025-03-26` and `2024-11-05`.

```bash
curl https://api.prismareviews.com/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"list_reviews","arguments":{"has_reply":false,"limit":5}}}'
```

## Things to ask

- "Summarize what customers complained about in our App Store reviews this month."
- "List the Google and Trustpilot reviews without a reply, worst first."
- "Draft a reply to the latest 2-star review. Show it to me before publishing."
- "What's our average rating per location this quarter?"

## Limits

The MCP server uses your plan's [rate limit](/docs/api-reference#rate-limits), locations and paid reads, exactly like the REST API. Tools that sign in to a platform with OAuth (Google, Trustpilot) need a browser: use `create_connect_link` and open the link, or connect from the [dashboard](https://app.prismareviews.com/connections).
