DataForSEO alternative for reviews you own

DataForSEO’s Business Data API sells public review data of any business by the review: Google, Trustpilot and Tripadvisor, plus App Store and Google Play in its App Data API. It’s asynchronous (post a task, collect results up to 45 minutes later on the standard queue) and read-only. Prisma is for the businesses and apps you own or manage: it returns every review in one format, sends a webhook when a new one arrives and posts your replies through the official APIs. 2 locations free, then plans from €49 a month.

Data provider vs operations API

They don’t really compete. Many teams use a data provider for competitors and an owner-access API for their own locations.

The work you don’t have to build

With a task-based data API, a “new reviews” feature means: schedule tasks for every location, wait, collect, diff against what you stored, decide what’s new, then find another way to reply. With Prisma that whole loop is one webhook and one call:

Node.js
// Express handler for Prisma's review.created webhook
app.post("/webhooks/prisma", async (req, res) => {
  // verify the signature first (see /docs/api-reference/webhooks)
  const { id } = req.body.data;
  const review = await fetch(`https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/${id}`, {
    headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.PRISMA_API_KEY}` },
  }).then((r) => r.json());
  await notifyTeam(review); // your code
  res.sendStatus(200);
});

Where DataForSEO wins

DataForSEO is excellent when you need breadth: reviews of competitors, whole markets, any business on the map, alongside SERP, keyword and backlink data, at a very low price per review and with a balance that doesn’t expire. Prisma can’t read businesses you don’t own.

When to choose Prisma

Choose Prisma if the reviews are yours and you need to answer them, want new reviews pushed to you instead of polling with tasks, or need platforms like Judge.me, Booking.com and G2 in the same format. FAQ

Can DataForSEO reply to Google reviews?

No. DataForSEO’s review endpoints only retrieve data. They return the owner’s existing answer but cannot post one.

How fast is the DataForSEO Google Reviews API?

Review endpoints are task-based: you post a task and collect results later. DataForSEO states up to 45 minutes on the standard queue and up to 1 minute on the priority queue, which costs double.

Does DataForSEO notify me of new reviews?

Its pingback and postback callbacks fire when a task you submitted finishes. To catch new reviews you keep submitting tasks. Prisma sends a review.created webhook when a new review appears.

Is DataForSEO cheaper than Prisma?

For one-off pulls of public reviews, often yes: Google reviews cost $75 per million on the standard queue. For ongoing monitoring and replies on your own locations, Prisma’s flat price per location includes unlimited reviews, calls and webhooks.

Stop polling. Get your reviews pushed to you.
