Google review management, automated through an API
Google review management is three jobs: see every new review, get it to the right person and reply fast. Prisma automates the plumbing with one API. It pulls the reviews of every Google Business Profile location you own or manage, sends a webhook when a new one arrives and posts your reply back to Google. Your team keeps working in its own tools.
Prisma is not a dashboard for business owners. It is an API for developers, agencies and multi-location brands that want Google reviews inside their own tools. If you run one café and want to answer reviews yourself, you can already do that from your Business Profile on Google Search and Maps.
2 locations free, then plans from €49 a month. No card required.
Why manual Google review management stops working
Answering reviews by hand inside Google Business Profile is fine for one location. It stops working when:
- You manage 10, 50 or 500 profiles, each with its own manager.
- Reviews need to reach your helpdesk, CRM or Slack, not a separate app.
- You want numbers: reply rate, reply time and rating per location, per month.
- You want replies written by your team or your own AI, with a human approving them.
At that point Google review management is a data problem, and data problems need an API.
How teams manage Google reviews today
| Approach | Good for | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Business Profile on Google Search and Maps | 1 to 3 locations | No alerts to your tools, no cross-location reporting |
| Review management software | Teams that want a finished interface | Another login. Data stays inside the vendor’s product. Pricing often quote-only. |
| Direct Google Business Profile API | Developer teams with time | Access application, token handling, pagination (max 50 reviews per page), notification setup |
| Scraping Google Maps | Reading competitors | Can’t reply, breaks often, terms-of-service risk. See Google reviews API vs scraper. |
| Prisma | Your own tools, at scale | Needs a developer. Owned profiles only. |
How automated Google review management works with Prisma
The flow: your Google locations connect to Prisma once, Prisma sends a review.created webhook for every new review, and your code decides what happens next. A Slack alert to the location manager, a helpdesk ticket for 1 and 2 stars, or a reply that a person approves before it goes to Google.
Step 1. Connect your Google locations
Create a connection with POST /v1/connections and open the authorization_url it returns. Sign in once with the Google account that owns or manages your profiles. Prisma uses its own Google Cloud project, so you don’t need a project or an access application of your own. Background on the Google Business Profile API.
Step 2. Pull every review
curl "https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews?platform=google&since=2026-10-01T00:00:00Z" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY"You get every review across all locations, paginated with a cursor and normalized: id, location_id, rating, text, author, language, created_at, reply and url. A review with only stars and no text comes back with text: null. Add has_reply=false to get only the reviews nobody has answered.
Step 3. Get alerts where your team works
The review.created webhook fires when Prisma finds a new Google review. It carries the review id and its location_id; fetch the review and route it by location and rating: a 5-star review goes to a “wins” channel, a 1-star review opens a ticket. Deliveries are signed with HMAC-SHA256 so you can check they come from Prisma.
Step 4. Write the reply, approve, publish
Write the reply yourself, start from a template or have your own LLM write it. A person reviews it. Then post it:
curl -X POST https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/rev_8f2c/reply \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"text": "Thanks for the feedback, Ana. We have passed it on to the team."}'// Node.js 18+
await fetch(`https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/${reviewId}/reply`, {
method: "POST",
headers: {
Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.PRISMA_API_KEY}`,
"Content-Type": "application/json",
},
body: JSON.stringify({ text: approvedReply }),
});# Python 3
import os, requests
requests.post(
f"https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/{review_id}/reply",
headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['PRISMA_API_KEY']}"},
json={"text": approved_reply},
)Prisma answers 202 with the reply queued, publishes it through Google’s official API and confirms with the reply.published webhook (or reply.failed with the reason). The reply appears on Google under the business name. Google’s own endpoint creates the reply if none exists and replaces it if it does (updateReply), and Google replies can be up to 4,096 bytes. Step by step in our guide to reply to Google reviews with the API.
Prisma doesn’t write replies: it publishes the text you send, unchanged.
Step 5. Measure
Every review carries created_at and reply.created_at. Reply rate and median reply time per location come out of one query in your own database or BI tool.
Example: a 12-clinic group
This is an illustrative example, not a customer. A dental group with 12 clinics routes every new Google review to the clinic’s channel. Reviews of 3 stars or less create a ticket for the patient-experience lead. The group’s own LLM writes a suggested reply in the patient’s language; the lead edits and approves it. The monthly board report shows rating and reply time per clinic, pulled from Prisma.

FAQ
Is Prisma a Google review management dashboard?
No. Prisma is an API for developers, agencies and multi-location brands. It feeds your own dashboard, BI tool, helpdesk or app. If you want a ready-made interface with no code, a review management app is a better fit.
Can I reply to Google reviews through an API?
Yes. The Google Business Profile API supports replies on verified locations. With Prisma you call POST /v1/reviews/{id}/reply and the reply appears on Google under the business name.
Can I manage reviews for businesses I don’t own?
No. Prisma only works with locations you own or manage and connect through Google’s own sign-in. It does not scrape Google Maps.
Does Google allow AI-written replies?
Prisma publishes the text you send and does not change it, whether you, your software or your own AI wrote it. If a model writes the text, we recommend that a person approves every reply before it is published.
Can I show my Google reviews on my website?
Yes. You can render them from the API on your own site. Read how to embed Google reviews in our guide.
Can I delete a reply?
Yes, with DELETE /v1/reviews/{id}/reply. You can’t delete a customer’s review through the API; Google handles removal requests.
