SerpApi alternative for reviews you own
SerpApi is a search scraping API: it reads public Google Maps, App Store, Tripadvisor and Yelp reviews of any business and charges per search. It can’t reply. Prisma does the other half of the job: it connects the businesses and apps you own or manage with owner access, returns every review in one JSON format, sends a webhook when a new one arrives, and posts your reply through the platform’s official API. 2 locations free, then plans from €49 a month with unlimited reviews.
Two different questions
- SerpApi answers “what do the public results say about any business?” Good for competitor research, market studies and SEO tools.
- Prisma answers “how do I see and answer every review of my locations and apps from my own software?” Good for agencies, SaaS products and multi-location brands.
If the reviews belong to someone else, use SerpApi. If they’re yours, a scraper is the long way round.

The cost of polling per search
SerpApi’s plans start at $25 for 1,000 searches a month. A Google Maps Reviews search returns 10 reviews by default and 20 at most, so a full backfill of a location with 1,000 reviews takes 50 to 100 searches. Then you keep paying to check for new ones: re-checking 50 locations every hour is about 36,000 searches a month, beyond the $275 Big Data plan’s 30,000.
With Prisma, those 50 locations are the Spectrum plan, €149 a month, with every platform checked at least every hour and no per-call charge. See pricing.
Why owner access matters
Scraped results show what a visitor sees. Owner access through the official API gives you what the business is entitled to:
- Replies. Only the owner or manager can answer a review, and only through the platform.
- Every review of your own profile, with Google’s full reviews endpoint rather than a page of public results. Read why in Google reviews API vs scraper.
- Stable contracts. Official APIs don’t break when a page’s HTML changes.
Where SerpApi wins
Be clear about this: if you need reviews of businesses you don’t control (competitors, a market, products on Walmart or Home Depot), Prisma can’t help and SerpApi is a mature, well-rated choice with a generous free tier. Its U.S. Legal Shield covers public search data on Production plans and above.

FAQ
Can SerpApi reply to Google reviews?
No. SerpApi’s review engines read public search results. None of them posts a reply. Replying needs owner access through the platform’s official API, which is what Prisma uses.
How much does SerpApi cost for reviews?
SerpApi charges per search: 250 free searches a month, then plans from $25 for 1,000 searches. Its Google Maps Reviews API returns up to 20 reviews per search, so pulling and re-checking many reviews uses searches quickly.
Does SerpApi have webhooks for new reviews?
We found no webhooks or review monitoring in SerpApi’s documentation; you poll the API. Prisma sends a signed review.created webhook when a new review arrives.
Can Prisma read a competitor’s reviews?
No. Prisma only works with businesses and apps you own or manage, connected with owner access. For competitor reviews, a search API such as SerpApi is the right tool.
