Why Prisma instead of integrating Yelp yourself

With Prisma

  • One API key for every platform
  • One JSON format: rating, text, author, reply, url
  • Signed webhooks for new reviews and replies
  • History kept from the day you connect
  • Test keys with sample data before going live

Yelp on your own

  • Yelp Fusion returns at most 3 review excerpts per business
  • No API to reply: owners answer in Yelp for Business
  • Paid Yelp plans for review data
  • One more JSON shape next to Google and the app stores

Three steps to Yelp reviews in your product

  1. Connect

    Add the business’s public Yelp page. No Yelp login is shared with Prisma. The listing URL is the business’s public page on yelp.com.

    POST /v1/connections
    curl -X POST https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/connections \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY" \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -d '{
        "platform": "yelp",
        "listing_url": "https://www.yelp.com/biz/acme-coffee-san-francisco"
      }'
  2. Read

    Full public reviews of your listings, not just the 3 excerpts Yelp’s public API returns, with the owner’s public reply. New reviews also reach your webhook as review.created.

    GET /v1/reviews
    curl "https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews?platform=yelp&has_reply=false" \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY"
  3. Answer on the platform

    Read only: Yelp has no reply API for third parties. Every review includes a link to answer it on the platform, so the owner answers it in Yelp for Business.

    GET /v1/reviews/{id}
    curl https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/rev_01JB7Q \
      -H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY"
    # → "url": the review on Yelp, where the business answers it

Frequently asked questions

Can I reply to Yelp reviews through the API?

Read only: Yelp has no reply API for third parties. Every review includes a link to answer it on the platform, so the owner answers it in Yelp for Business.

How do my customers connect Yelp?

Add the business’s public Yelp page. No Yelp login is shared with Prisma.

What happens if I send a reply to a Yelp review?

No. Yelp doesn't let third parties publish replies through an API, so Prisma is read only there: POST /v1/reviews/{id}/reply returns 422 reply_not_supported. Every review includes url, a link to answer it in Yelp for Business.

Does Prisma need the Yelp login?

No. Prisma only needs the public listing URL and reads the public reviews of that listing. Only connect listings you own or manage.

Which plan includes it?

Every paid plan, from Beam (€49 a month for 10 locations). The free Spark plan covers the platforms with official reply APIs. Each listing or store counts as one location.
