Yext API for reviews: endpoints, access and limits
The Yext API gives Yext customers programmatic access to their account, reviews included. Reviews live in the Management API at api.yextapis.com/v2, and replies are created as “comments” on a review. The catch for developers: Yext says the Reviews endpoints require a Yext subscription, which is sold by quote. If you only need to read reviews from 32 platforms and reply where the platform allows it (the App Store and Google Play today; Google and Trustpilot once each approves Prisma’s access), Prisma is a reviews-only API with a public price and 2 locations free.
What the Yext API is
Yext is a listings and brand-content platform: it keeps business information in sync across publishers, runs search and pages, and manages reviews as one module. The Yext API is the developer door into that account. Yext splits it into a Management API, to read and change your account’s data, and a Content Delivery API, to serve content to websites and apps quickly.
How to get a Yext API key
According to Yext’s getting-started guide:
- Create a developer account, or log in to your Yext account.
- Go to Developer > Developer Console and click + Add an App.
- Name the app, open API Credentials and add the permissions it needs.
- Copy the key from the API Keys section.
- Send a first request, for example
GET https://api.yextapis.com/v2/accounts/me/entities?api_key=YOUR_API_KEY&v=YYYYMMDD. Every request carries avdate that pins the API version.
The developer account is a trial with access to four entities. The same guide is explicit about the limit that matters here: a Yext subscription is required to use the Listings, Analytics, Reviews, Social and User endpoints. You can explore the API for free, but not its reviews.
Reviews in the Yext API
Reading reviews
Reviews are a resource of the Management API, listed per account and filtered by entity, publisher and date. Yext also offers Content Endpoints for Reviews, for showing first-party review data on a website (individual reviews and aggregate rating and count).
Replying to reviews: comments
In the Yext API a review response is a comment. Yext’s help center documents three endpoints, all with the Reviews: WRITE permission:
| Action | Request |
|---|---|
| Create a response | POST /v2/accounts/{accountId}/reviews/{reviewId}/comments |
| Update a response | PUT /v2/accounts/{accountId}/reviews/{reviewId}/comments/{commentId} |
| Delete a response | DELETE /v2/accounts/{accountId}/reviews/{reviewId}/comments/{commentId} |
A create request needs only a content field with the text. Responses post straight to the publisher for the sites Yext supports, which its help center lists as Google, Facebook, Yelp, Trustpilot (after you link your Trustpilot account) and first-party reviews, plus GoLocal and MeinungsMeister in Germany. Tripadvisor is the exception: Yext sends you to Tripadvisor to answer there. Not every publisher allows deleting a response; some only allow editing.
Yext also has a review invitations API (/v2/accounts/{accountId}/reviewInvites) to request reviews from customers.
Yext API limits and pricing
Limits. Yext caps requests per hour per API and shows usage in the Developer Console. Its training material quotes figures such as 5,000 requests per hour for the Management API and 100,000 for the Content Delivery API.
Pricing. Yext doesn’t sell the API on its own and doesn’t publish prices: the Reviews endpoints come with a Yext subscription, usually annual and quoted by sales. See the Yext alternative page for what that means in practice.
Yext API vs Prisma for reviews
| Yext API | Prisma | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Developer access to a Yext account | Standalone API to read and reply to reviews |
| Reviews endpoints need | A Yext subscription | An account and an API key, self-serve |
| Public price | No, quoted by sales | Yes: 2 locations free, then plans from €49/month |
| Free way to try reviews | No (the developer account excludes Reviews) | Yes: Spark plan and test keys with sample data |
| Reply by API | Yes, as comments | Yes, POST /v1/reviews/{id}/reply |
| Reply publishers | Google, Facebook, Yelp, Trustpilot, first-party and more | Google Business Profile, App Store, Google Play, Judge.me, Trustpilot (beta) |
| Read only, with a link to answer | Tripadvisor | Yelp, Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Yotpo, REVIEWS.io, G2 |
| Webhooks for new reviews | Not covered here | Yes, signed (review.created, reply.published…) |
| Listings, pages, search | Yes | No |
| Data format | Yext’s schema | One normalized JSON for every platform |
Where Yext wins: if you need listings sync, pages, site search and reviews in one contract, with replies on Facebook and Yelp, Yext covers much more than Prisma.
Where Prisma wins: if you are a developer, an agency or a SaaS that only needs reviews in your own product, Prisma is the smaller piece: no subscription to buy before the first call, a public price, and the Google Business Profile API access handled for you. Prisma doesn’t write replies with AI; it publishes the reply you send.
Read and reply to reviews with Prisma
curl "https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews?location_id=loc_123&since=2026-10-01" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY"const res = await fetch("https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews/rev_789/reply", {
method: "POST",
headers: { Authorization: `Bearer ${process.env.PRISMA_API_KEY}`, "Content-Type": "application/json" },
body: JSON.stringify({ text: "Thanks for the kind words, Sam." }),
});
console.log(res.status);import os, requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews",
headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['PRISMA_API_KEY']}"},
params={"location_id": "loc_123", "platform": "google"},
)
print(r.json()["data"][0]["rating"])Every review comes back in the same shape on every platform: id, platform, location_id, rating, text, author, created_at, reply, url. Start with the quickstart.
Moving reviews from the Yext API to Prisma
- Separate reviews from the rest. If you use Yext for listings or pages, keep it for that; Prisma only replaces the reviews calls.
- Create a Prisma account and an API key. Test keys return sample data for every platform.
- Connect your locations by OAuth as owner or manager on Google Business Profile, Trustpilot, App Store Connect or Google Play Console.
- Map fields. Yext review and comment fields → Prisma’s review and
reply. Keep both IDs during the switch. - Run both for a billing cycle, compare review counts per location, then move replies to
POST /v1/reviews/{id}/reply.

FAQ
Does Yext have a reviews API?
Yes. Reviews are part of the Yext Management API at api.yextapis.com/v2. Yext says a Yext subscription is required to use the Reviews endpoints; a free developer account doesn’t include them.
Can you reply to reviews with the Yext API?
Yes. In the API a response is called a comment: POST /v2/accounts/{accountId}/reviews/{reviewId}/comments creates one, with a content field. It needs the Reviews WRITE permission, and responses post to publishers Yext supports, such as Google, Facebook, Yelp and Trustpilot.
How do I get a Yext API key?
In Yext, go to Developer > Developer Console, add an app, give it permissions in the API Credentials tab and copy the key from the API Keys section.
How much does the Yext API cost?
Yext doesn’t sell the API on its own or publish prices. The Reviews endpoints come with a Yext subscription, which is quoted by sales.
Is there a reviews API without a Yext subscription?
Yes. Prisma is a reviews-only API: it reads reviews from 32 platforms and publishes replies through their official APIs where they allow it (the App Store, Google Play, Judge.me, Trusted Shops and eKomi today; Google Business Profile and Trustpilot once each approves Prisma’s access), with 2 locations free and public plans from €49 a month.
