App reviews API: App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store and Steam in one feed
Prisma is a app reviews API: one REST API that reads the reviews of the mobile apps and games you own or manage, from every platform that matters to them, in one JSON shape, with a signed webhook on every new review. Built for app studios, game developers, ASO teams and the tools (support desks, analytics, release management) that want reviews as data.
2 locations free. Test keys return sample reviews from every platform. No card, no sales call.
Why mobile apps and games need an API, not six integrations
- App Store Connect needs an ES256-signed JWT from a team API key with the Customer Support role, and paginates 200 at a time.
- The Google Play Developer API only returns reviews from the last 7 days, so a missed week is gone unless you merge the monthly reports from Cloud Storage.
- Microsoft Store needs a Partner Center app with Entra ID; Steam has no owner API, only the public store reviews.
- Four rating scales, four date formats, and no webhooks anywhere.
Prisma measured all of this when it integrated the platforms; the per-platform rules are in the State of Review Platform APIs 2026.
The platforms, and what each one allows
| Platform | Reply by API | Connects with | Status in Prisma |
|---|---|---|---|
| App Store | Yes, through the official API | API key or token from the owner’s account | Live |
| Google Play | Yes, through the official API | API key or token from the owner’s account | Live |
| Microsoft Store | No: the platform has no reply API; each review links to the page where you answer | The public page address, no login shared | Beta |
| Steam | No: the platform has no reply API; each review links to the page where you answer | The public page address, no login shared | Beta |
Replies go out by API on App Store, Google Play. Everywhere else the review comes with its URL and you answer on the platform.
What teams build with it
- One review feed per app across stores and countries, with version, territory and the existing developer response.
- A Slack or Linear alert when a 1- or 2-star review mentions a crash, routed to the team that owns that app.
- Replies on the App Store and Google Play published by API from your support desk, drafted by your team or your AI and approved by a human.
One call, every platform
curl "https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/reviews?platform=app_store&has_reply=false&since=2026-10-01" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY"Every review comes back with the same fields whatever the platform: id, platform, location_id, rating (always out of 5), title, text, author, language, created_at, reply and url. This call lists the App Store reviews since 1 October that nobody has answered yet; drop the platform filter and you get every platform in one list, newest first. Register a webhook with POST /v1/webhooks to receive review.created the moment a new one is synced; the webhooks reference has the payload and the signature check.
Honest limits
- Prisma reads reviews of businesses you own or manage. It is not a scraper for competitors’ reviews.
- On platforms without a reply API, Prisma can’t post for you; it returns the link and the existing reply.
- Public-page platforms are read on a schedule (every 6 to 24 hours depending on the plan), not in real time; see how often Prisma checks.
- Prisma never writes replies. Your team or your own AI writes them; Prisma publishes the exact text you approve.
FAQ
Can I reply to App Store and Google Play reviews by API?
Yes, both: the App Store Connect API allows creating, editing and deleting developer responses, and the Google Play Developer API allows replies up to 350 characters (no delete). Prisma publishes them through those official APIs. Steam and the Microsoft Store have no reply API.
How do I get Google Play reviews older than 7 days?
Prisma merges the API (last 7 days) with the monthly review reports Google Play writes to your developer account’s Cloud Storage bucket, so you get full history in one feed. The method is in the Google Play 7-day guide.
Does it cover Steam reviews?
Yes, read-only: the public reviews of your game’s store page, with recommended or not mapped to 5 or 1 stars and the developer response when there is one.
Every review of every app, one JSON.
