Judge.me API token: where to find it and what it allows
To use the Judge.me API you need two things: your shop domain (the .myshopify.com address of the store) and the private API token from the Judge.me admin. Both identify the store; the token authorises every request. This guide shows where the token is, what the API lets you do with reviews, and the limits you hit when you build on it.
Where to find the Judge.me API token
- Open the Judge.me app from your Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Developers.
- Copy the private API token. Your shop domain is shown next to it.
The token acts as the store, so store it like a password: in a secret manager or an environment variable, never in client-side code or a public repository. If it leaks, regenerate it from the same screen.
What the Judge.me API allows
With the shop domain and token you can:
- List reviews of the store, published ones included, with rating, title, body, reviewer name and the product they belong to.
- Read one review by id.
- Create a public reply to a review. The reply appears on the review widget.
What it does not allow, and what catches integrations out:
- No edit or delete for replies. A reply created by API can only be changed in the Judge.me admin. Design your product so a sent reply is final, or send the correction as a new reply where Judge.me allows it.
- No date filter or sort on the list. To find new reviews you page through the list and compare against what you already stored.
- Replies aren’t in the review response. To know whether a review has been answered you keep your own record.
- Hidden, spam and not-yet-curated reviews are part of the admin, not of what shoppers see. A product integration should show published reviews only.
Using the token with Prisma
If you would rather not page through Judge.me yourself, connect the store to Prisma once and read its reviews in the same JSON as Google, the App Store and every other platform, with a webhook for each new review:
curl -X POST https://api.prismareviews.com/v1/connections \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $PRISMA_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"platform": "judge_me", "credentials": {"shop_domain": "acme.myshopify.com", "api_token": "<private token>"}}'Prisma stores the token encrypted, reads published reviews only, publishes the reply you send through Judge.me’s official API and returns 422 operation_not_supported if you try to edit or delete one, because Judge.me doesn’t allow it. Judge.me is included in the free Spark plan: each shop counts as one location. Details on the Judge.me reviews API page.
