Review platform API changes in 2026
Review APIs change quietly: an endpoint disappears in a new Graph version, a platform pauses partners, a review app moves its API behind a plan. We integrate all of them for Prisma Reviews, so we keep this log of what changed in 2026 and what it means for anyone building on reviews. Entries say where the fact comes from; the per-platform baseline is the State of Review Platform APIs 2026, and the live table is on Platforms. If you spot a change we’ve missed, tell us at hello@prismareviews.com and we’ll add it with credit.
Timeline
| When | Platform | Change | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-11-03 | Google Business Profile | Q&A API discontinued (Google release notes) | Questions and answers are dashboard-only; reviews unaffected |
| 2026 (Graph v22.0) | Page ratings and recommendations removed from the Graph API (our report) | No third-party read of Page reviews; only the public Page shows them | |
| 2026 | Booking.com | New connectivity-partner onboarding paused (our report) | New integrators get no guest-review API; channel managers already connected (Hostaway and others) keep read and reply |
| 2026-04 | Google Business Profile | ReviewReplyState retrievable as part of reviews; review media items (thumbnails, video URLs) retrievable (Google release notes) | You can tell whether a reply is pending moderation; photos and videos on reviews are now readable |
| 2026-07 | Google Business Profile | PolicyViolation retrievable on reviews (Google release notes) | Reviews flagged by Google can be identified by API instead of guessed |
| 2026 | Google Business Profile | Known issue logged: pages after the first may not be fully consistent (Google) | De-duplicate by review name when paginating; don’t assume a stable order |
| 2026 | Okendo | Merchant API for Growth plans and above, webhooks for Enterprise (Okendo, in writing to us) | Prisma reads Okendo published reviews without a key; the full API depends on the merchant’s plan |
| 2026 | Judge.me | Reply by API creates only: no edit, no delete (our report) | A retry after a dropped connection could duplicate; Prisma stops with reply.unknown instead of retrying (why) |
| 2026-05 (since) | n8n | Verified community nodes require provenance publishing from GitHub Actions and no runtime dependencies | Relevant if you publish a reviews node; ours is published that way (n8n node) |
| 2026-10 | Prisma | reply.unknown state and reconciliation on Google, App Store and Google Play; remote MCP server; platform dataset as CSV/JSON | Replies · MCP · dataset |
Unchanged, and still the thing people ask about
- Google Business Profile access still needs an application reviewed by a person, a profile verified for 60+ days and a website; quota is 0 QPM until approval, 300 after. Reviews still live on the v4 endpoints (access guide).
- Yelp still returns 3 review excerpts per business (7 on paid plans) and has no owner or reply API (details).
- Google Play still returns only the last 7 days of reviews by API; history is in the monthly reports (how to get it).
- Tripadvisor still exposes only the Content API: up to 5 reviews for display, no owner feed, no replies (Python guide).
- Trustpilot still sells API access as a module on the business’s plan and reviews each integrator (API key guide).
How to read this log
- “Our report” entries were measured when we integrated the platform and are dated October 2026.
- “Release notes” entries are from the platform’s published changelog; we link the platform’s own page from the relevant guide rather than copying it.
- “In writing to us” entries are what a platform told us when we applied as an integrator.
- Platform rules change without notice; a date here is when we recorded the change, not necessarily when it happened.
FAQ
Did Facebook remove its reviews API?
Yes. The Page ratings endpoint was removed from the Graph API in version 22.0, so third parties can no longer read a Page’s recommendations through the API; they are only visible on the Page.
Can new partners still get Booking.com reviews by API?
Booking.com paused onboarding of new connectivity partners, so new integrators have no API route to guest reviews; existing partners keep theirs. Property managers using a connected channel manager such as Hostaway can still read and reply through it.
What changed in the Google Business Profile API for reviews in 2026?
Per Google’s release notes, reviews gained a retrievable ReviewReplyState and review media items in April 2026 and a PolicyViolation field in July 2026; the Q&A API was discontinued on 3 November 2025. Reviews themselves still live on the v4 endpoints, and access still requires Google’s approval.
